Born in England in 1939, John Owen has been carving decoys as a hobby
since 1980 and has been doing it as a full-time occupation since 1991 when
he retired from the British Army and moved to the United States with his
Lexington-born wife Anne.
He carves mostly ducks, geese, swans, loons, herons and shore birds,
but also does owls, woodpeckers, fish and various songbirds. His work has
been included in Early American Homes magazine's Directory of Traditional
American Crafts and he has appeared on PBS and cable television
demonstrating his craft. |
