Peter O'Shaughnessy makes his home in a pretty little hollow in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Using traditional blacksmith techniques, Peter has produced pieces of his own design since 1972.

Each piece is individually hand made. The process begins by heating the iron on a coal forge until white hot. It is then pounded on the anvil and shaped to the desired form.

Peter's work retains the grace of apparent fluidity long after the iron has hardened to its lasting strength. His pieces are utilitarian and are aesthetically at home in any setting. The pieces are finished with linseed oil and beeswax; an occasional application of natural oil will maintain the finish.
